Before starting the tasksdescribed in this section it is important to check that yourExchange Servers and Enterprise Vault servers meet with theprerequisites described in OWAPrerequisites in the manual, Installingand Configuring.
There are a number of tasksthat you need to complete before installing the Enterprise VaultOWA Extensions. There may also be post-installation steps required,depending on your OWA environment. This section provides details ofthe preparation, installation and post-installation tasks requiredto enable Enterprise Vault access for OWA users.
The required steps can be summarized asfollows:
On Enterprise Vault servers, configure the DataAccess account to accept anonymous connections from Exchange 2007CAS servers, and any Exchange 2000 or Exchange Server 2003 back-endservers.
If required, configure OWA settings in the ExchangeDesktop Policy in the Enterprise Vault Administration Console tochange the Enterprise Vault functionality available in OWAclients.
For OWA 2003 and OWA 2000, create the
EVServers.txt
file on an Enterprise Vault server.This file enables the installation program to add entries to theproxy bypass list.You create the file usingthe script,
MakeEVServersTxt.wsf

If you are installing theOWA Extensions remotely using, for example, Active Directory, thenthe
EVServers.txt
file needs to becopied to the file share containing the installation files. If youare installing the OWA Extensions interactively on each server,thenEVServers.txt
needs to be copiedto each Exchange Server 2003 and Exchange 2000 back-end server.On Exchange Server 2003 and Exchange 2000 servers,run the installation program to install and automatically configurethe Enterprise Vault OWA Extensions.
On Exchange 2007 CAS server computers, install theEnterprise Vault OWA 2007 Extensions. (You can install the 64-bitor 32-bit version, depending on the mode of your ExchangeServer).
Depending on the arrangement of CAS and Mailboxservers in your Exchange Server 2007 environment, you may need toperform some additional configuration steps to enable access.

When Archive Explorer or archive search is startedin an OWA 2007 client, the client will attempt to access theEnterprise Vault server directly. If you are using a firewall orISA Server, you need to ensure that both the Exchange 2007 CASserver and Enterprise Vault server Web Access application arepublished to clients.

Enterprise Vault Services are not available from 4:00 am – 8:00am am due to maintenance running on the system. This will only affect users that are trying to manually archive or restore mail items.
Depending on how youradministrator has set up Enterprise Vault, a number of commands maybe available on the Tools >Enterprise Vault menu in MicrosoftOutlook. These commands may also be available as buttons on theOutlook Standard toolbar.
